Bought a new Ultra Rest at Gander and proceeded to mount it on my bow. Watching the video, pausing and going step by step. Until it came time to attach the cable clamp. The clamp was nothing like the one on the video and like it shows on the package. Looked like to me that there were parts missing from the kit. So the closest shop was Gander so I dropped it off and explained to them my problem. When I picked it up they had tied the timing cord to the cable. I questioned it and hey told me that the plastic clamp breaks and that they do alot of them like that. I shot it and it seemed to work and also seemed faster. This is the first drop away I have had. Any of y'all ran into this?

I emailed qad and I was informed that that is the new style. And he was nice enough to tell me that for future reference they did have tech support to help with any questions. So I guess now instead of 2 screws, you only have one holding it. here are some pics, in case someone else runs into this little problem. One of how the timing cord was attached. Will the cord tied like that work? Now I think it is too short to use the clamp. Seemed to work ok after I shot a few arrows.

I tie the cord to the cable, not served into it. That is how I have most always mounted my QADs to my bows and other folk's bows. I tried it mounted into the down cable on my new bow this spring, and lost an opportunity at a monster hog this past Memorial Day weekend. I went to draw on him, and the cord slipped through the cable. The cord was served above and below, and burnt on the end, where it went through the cable, just like the pic in the above post, and it still came loose. I had shot the bow since I bought it back in March this way, all afternoon before that hunt, and no probs till the moment of truth
. I'll never serve the cord through a cable again. I've seen that hog 4 times now in 5 years and he is well over 425 lbs. Once was in the daylight hours in an open pasture with a group of, well lets say, very large sows
.
Here is how I utilize the rest cord: I tie the cord to the down cable "semi-tight" with a double half knot just like a D-loop, so it still slips up an down the cable with applied pressure. I push it down the cable till the slack is out of the cord. Then I draw the bow and let the cord ride up the cable and check the forks to make sure they are in the fully up position when at full draw. I then let the bow down. If tight enough, the cord should stay in place. I then put some serving just above the cord to keep it from riding up the cable any further. The serving will act as the "Stop" for the cord. It is not necessary to put serving below the cord unless you just want to.
And for those who are wondering, I some times use dental floss for serving some items. I highly recommend a heavier serving thread if you are not very experienced doing this, for a larger stop.

It's a single cam Reflex. When I first saw it I thought the same thing, too high. Shot bout 15 arrows through it and seems to be ok. Need to tweak my sights but other than that, I believe it's gonna work. The plastic does seem cheap and fragile. Now I need to go ahead and order another cord in case I need to change it. thanks fellas.Originally posted by Extremebowman View PostAs always, what Mike B said
It does look to be tied a little high on the cable though. Mine is farther down the cable, but they are different bows different cable travel etc. Hope they were right since they cut the cord though!

i've got the hunter model which is the cheap one. other than having to readjust the timing cord due to string stretch and one of the lil screws that hold the cradle arm onto the metal arm broke i havent had any problems w/ the rest. i love this rest, and imo it was well worth the $60 that i paid for it.
