arrow spine question for the gurus...

I got a dozen new Gold tip 75/95 arrows, uncut. gottem cheap.

My bow is set at about 63#. With an uncut arrow, it flies as good as my others(55/75) that are cut to size.

If I cut these down to size, will the spine be TOO stiff? or will I even notice it out to 30 yards?

    thanx,

    David

My first reaction would be 'too stiff'... some of it would depend on the type of cam system...aggressive, soft etc.

While they may shoot field points fine out to 30... you could find some issues trying to get good broadhead flight.

What is your draw length? Better a shade too stiff than a shade too weak.

You didn't say what your cut arrow length is so it is impossible to say.

I shoot 28" arrows and at 70 pounds I can shoot 5575s or 7595s about the same. If I go much lower than 70 pounds the 7595s are too stiff. Much over 70 and the 5575s are too weak. You will notice with broadheads. If your cut arrow is in the 28" range I would use 5575s at 63 pounds.

I forgot to mention I'm not a guru. My DW is 68 and DL is 29. I shoot some arrows that are 55/75 at 27 inches and they fly great. I also have some 65/80 that are cut to 29.5 and they fly the same.

There's not many cam systems that won't shoot a "too stiff" arrow well.
Single cams that don't have near level nock travel will reveal stiff issues, but a cam system with good nock travel will shoot a stiff arrow well.
Don't fret unless you can actually shoot the difference.
I shoot extremely stiff arrows out of my bow,(7595) cut to 26 1/4 inches, and get 288 fps, and my BH and FP impact points are both behind my pin.
Same as the less stiff,(better spined) arrow.
I want the weight of the heavier, stiffer shaft, and truly believe that due to faster recovery, I get better BH flight.

thanx guys. It is a Mission Eliminator. I am at 28" draw. I'd be cutting about 4 " off the arrow, down to about 28.5 - 29"
