I am considering putting a D string on my bow, and wanted to get a few opinions on if this is a good idea.

I had one put on by an archery shop and it came untied about ten days later. I had the same shop retie it and was just to paranoid about it coming untied again so I replaced it with one of those metal loops that you attach with little screws. The jury is still out on whether or not it is as good as a string loop though. And yes I did punch myself in the nose when the first loop let go.

Ouch, still not a fan of metal loops on a string. Can't wait to hear your reviews.

I'm fairly new at this archery stuff so I'm trying different things. It seems like the metal loop puts a lot of stress on the string and would probably cause the string to wear out sooner than with a string loop. Is there any maintanance that needs to be done on a string loop from time to time? After the first one let go I was always worrying about it happening again so my mind was telling me "that knot is about to give again". My gut tells me a string loop should be more consistent and therefore better. The punch in the nose doesn't scare me nearly as much as where the arrow goes after an unintentional release. I shoot in my backyard and have already launched one off my property.I will probably go back to a string loop when I get rid of my factory strings/cables. I will also be trying a different archery shop.
PS. To whom it may concern,
I love the addition of the new forums to discuss things of this nature! Thanks staff! Great job!
