    Trailboss,

How big is the bucket you have? Does it matter how big the bucket is. Also what is underneath the cone shaped metal covering the fittings in the bucket? Is it just a 3" tee and collars?

    Thanks, RD

I think the bucket is 10 gal. Inside the 3" collar you have to build a baffle to direct the air to the bottom of the pipe and restrict the amount of corn that enters the pipe to keep it from clogging or blowing back up into the barrel. Hard to explain and a little hard to get right, but with a little trial and error you'll get it worked out.

My buddy built 4 so far and he can't get the blow back from happening, he tried bigger tanks/buckets more t's and even slowing the blower down and can't seem to get it right.

Truth... Will the street sweep in the pic fit under the spout.. I am sure you have tried that but looks like it would save the bucket time.

Yes that's the same HCR. I'm not sure they even have them on the market yet. Sportsmans warehouse in Round Rock has a demo set up.

I won't be going back to the lease for another month but, I'll try to get some pictures then.

Or maybe a feeder with a wench on it? Just a thought.

Gary with HCR called me back yesterday when I inquired about his system... waiting on the grass to green up to take some pictures... Said it costs about $100 to rig up a feeder... per feeder... but operates with a $30 vacuum cleaner... never have to open a lid again.... Sounds nice... And they are working on their website...

On our place we have a whole bunch of feeders (25 plus). The noise of the blowers drove us nuts and ours were slow, the crank up/down feeders are slow and are a lot of work just in the cranking. We find that with 3 people the fastest method for us is to back a pickup to the feeder, one man stands on the road feeder on the truck, one man is in the bed handing up bags and one man is setting/testing the timer. It is fast and efficient and since we only do it every 3 weeks during season there are always at least 3 guys at the ranch to get the work done. We buy corn as a group and fill all feeders as a group.

We have a 1200 lb Boss Buck protein feeder and it cannot be hung by a winch. Last time I checked I could not find a "Wench" that would lift it for me. My wife would think I was cheating on her!!!!

The bucket is actually connected to the blower line and under the door to let the corn out. It worked, just lots of blow back. We think we've solved the problem and we're now in the process of building a hopper to fit the back of the Polaris beds. (When I say "we", I don't mean me. LOL)

when set up, we intend to let the flow come from the "spicket" to the right of the bucket. We used that to load sacks when we filled the feeders that way. When the blower works, we'll probably cut that "spicket" off to allow the bucket to sit under it.

Those are awesome. I admit that I'm not all that handy, but my experience has been that the trial and error involved in building a feeder filler is extensive. The Pakmule is just too cheap when you factor in the time. The SpeedFeed unit is even better, albeit more expensive.

                            Awesome job Trailboss.

Looks pretty kewl but Im bettin it takes awhile to push 400 pounds of corn thru it. shouldnt be hard to make and most materials are found at your local Home Depot.

the pipe thru the bucket needs to be a solid piece with a trough cut in it
