    Cotton seed feeder

So I had an old 55 gallon protein feeder and some 2x4” wire laying around and decided to make a cottonseed feeder for the fortified type as people have said it molds. We are in west Texas so I have never had that happen but this should keep the hogs from routing around in it also.
    Very simple build.

Plan on getting it out tomorrow hopefully. The deer wear out the cottonseed, especially the Muledeer so it will be obvious if they use it.

One of my lease partners made one almost identical. Worked great....until the black bear got a hold of it! LOL

You will be happy with it!

Thank goodness we don’t have those to deal with

I made some like that except I used 3X3 welded wire, works great. The only problem I see with yours is there is no support for your wire. Deer will push it and bend it, especially mule deer bucks. Good luck

I like the idea. Looks like it will work

Why no pig panels instead? Just curious

We have several just like that. The only problem we’ve had is cottonseed is so “clingy” that it’s gotten stuck up in the barrel and we’ve had to use a long stick to get it to come down. Works great though and good work 👍

Wire is much easier to work with. As far as building pens, it’s easier to use these as I can move them around to different areas where the cows are not present.

How long did it take the deer to get used to it

Looks like a good idea but extra work. I just dump it on the ground and no problems.

Where do you get cotton seed hulls? The feed store or a mill? Never used it, and there are a lot of cotton fields to the west of where I live, but not where I hunt.
