    Solar panel mounting

Worked over some timer boxes by mounting the solar panels directly to the box.
Used existing holes on the panels, made a template to drill holes in the box, 4 screws per panel and a little silicone.

All that's left is to shorten up the wiring and they will be good to go.

Finished product with no more exposed wires for the raccoons to tear up.

Biggest problem mounting there is corn dust getting the panel dirty......

we have been doing it this way for a long time, never had a problem with dust. We give them a swipe with our hand every couple years, lots better than broken wires

So far we haven't had any trouble with the 3 or 4 that are set up this way. Usually wipe them off when filling the feeder and go on.

Another style I have seen and used is where the solar panel is mounted to the lid of the barrel and the wires ran through conduit inside the barrel. This works well, but even with a spring holding the lid down it can be blown off by the wind.

I honestly don't know, these were all for my father in law. They were all 6v set ups though.
