My wife saw some timber light fixtures she liked on Pinterest and suggested that "we" could build our own instead of buying one for $600-$1000. I agreed. I knew there was a pair of old utility pole cross supports laying up in the trees in a corner of our property so I drug them out, cleaned them up and cut off the rotten ends. I ended up with one salvageable piece 66" long that I thought would work. For the end brackets, I had a 8' piece of 1/4"x1" strap that I heated, beat, and beat some more to form the size & profile I needed then welded them together at the joint. This was by far the most difficult part of the build. I ordered the "vintage" style electrical components and bulbs off Amazon. All told, I've got about $120 in it. BTW....those 6 watt LED bulbs are INCREDIBLY bright. I was going to use eleven instead of seven and I'm glad I didn't.
