    DIY Bow Press

I have decided to take up the tuning side of archery. After having someone else set up my bows for the last umpteen years I figured I would begin to do it myself. Here is my press I started this weekend, I built it to adjust to fit almost any axle length bow.Everything is pined so you can quickly make any adjustments needed.

Here she is so far, I will post more pics when painted and in action.

        - The main tube is 44 1/2" of 1 3/4" 11g.
        - The two up-rights are also 1 3/4" tubing at 15" long.
        - The legs are 15" long(no set height- that just happened to fit my bench the best)
        - The four adjustment pices wich hold the rollers and up-rights are 3" long of 2" 11g. tubing, with another piece of 2" tubing notched and welded to the top for the up-rights to pivot in.
        - The rollers are 4" x 1/2" boat rollers
        - Trailer jack with foot cut off and hole drilled to accept a clevis pin.
        - The two "scizzors" that attatch to the jack are 36" long (could be shortened, just haven't played with it to get an exact measurement )

          Diy Press

FINISHED! and even gave the Elite a little test run, don't see any reason why I should have spent $300+ on a new press. I finished up the draw board tonight as well, now i'll take the draw board back apart and build out of the same perforated tubing I built the press out of.
Heres a few pics, let me know what you think.

The tubing can be bought at a galvanizing co. Most steel places don't carry it, Look for places that sale strut, uni-strut etc. I know discount steel in dallas/ftworth does.

What is the name of that kind of tubing and where do you find it?

                  Thanks

                          Darw board

I took apart the wooden draw board and rebuilt out of tubing. I place a 3" boat roller and a gungrip holder on the front to hold the bow in place while drawin back. I also put a small bracket on the side which I will mount a bow vise to. I went ahead and mounted it to my bow vise, instead of to my work bench so when i'm done I can remove them and put out of the way.My next venture will be a paper tuner, and a string jig. Anything else ya'll can think of for a DIY bow shop let me know

You could also turn it on its side for a test shooting rack. You could put a release on the cable and use it for a (human error free) shooting rack to truly paper tune the bow.

Yes sir, My thoughts exactly and the reason every thing is bolted and not welded.I'm thinking about building a guide rod down the side with a piece of tubing over the guide rod that has a release aid attached to the tubing for a track system when using it as a shooter rack.
