DIY Trailer Tailgate that converts to ramps.

Took a load to the ranch this weekend and tested the ramps.



Worked like a charm!

The ranger loaded very easy with no clearance issues and the ramps were silent while going down the dirt road.

Ingenious idea, and very nice build. Now, you've got me thinking about what to do, with the big fold down tailgate/ramp on my 7x12 trailer. That sucker really catches the wind.

Maybe I missed it but what’s the purpose of the bolts sticking out of the bottom?

1) it keeps the ramps from rattling. If you had a 1.5" angle iron channel like the ones located on the sides then the ramps would lay flush inside them. As it sits I only have a small 3/4" channel so the ramps rest on top.

2) it makes them stronger should a load shift to the back of the trailer and push on the ramps. They are probably not needed but they do give piece of mind.
