    Yamaha rhino axle/differential fix

bought a utv on here a few weeks ago and thought i would post up the progress. It was a little rough but nothing I havent seen before. I used to repair watercraft on the coast so anything rusty or abused I have dealt with.

here she sat before I started digging in

Rhino had bad rear diff and upon further inspection the front diff had all 3 seals blown out, and what fluid was left looked like coffee creamer... i have new bearing/seals on order.

The rear frame was cracked and repaired but wasnt repaired well so I welded a few new braces.- Make sure if you ever weld you disconnect the battery and ground your lead as close to the weld as possible. Im overkill so I disconnected the CDI also. Also welded a few holes that were in the exhaust, this sucker actually had a flowmaster exhaust custom mounted up in there i dont know how?!

While I had the welder out i cut up some scrap tubing I had laying around and added some eye bolts for a top roof rack- came out better than I would have hoped for-

yep- you beat me there. I was the first to see that post. I was at the end of the loop watching my neighbor try to ignite me with an uncontrolled burn and couldnt leave.
Glad you got a good deal and are making the repairs.

yea great deal but if you werent doing it yourself this would easily run a few thousand bux for repair

chago was a very nice guy to deal with also-

Threw in a new carb I found from niche industries, it was a direct replacement and fired right up surprisingly with little mixture adjustment.

ended the day taking ol bessy for a test spin- this was my grandads truck and I just finished putting a new gas tank and fuel system in as the old one rusted out. She still runs amazing after all these yrs.

1981 Custom deluxe 20 one of the rarest 3/4 ton trucks ever made.. single cab long bed stepside..

Never had good luck with Yamaha diff seals. They always seemed to go quick if you spend a lot of time in the mud and water
