Creating a Blackout Effect for Bow Windows

I know I've seen is before but I want to build a big shade covering around my windows to keep the light from hitting the windows. I'm thinking of building like a 4 sided long rectangular box (no bottom or top) that extends 18" past the windows. The stand will be a 6'x8' with 4 12"x36" hinged deerview windows (all windows will be horizontal). Does anyone have pictures of blinds similar to this idea?

What are you hoping to gain by using the sun shades?

I had a friend build a 2 ft overhang on one of his box blinds in south texas. It worked really well. The shadow it created made the inside of the blind really dark. You could have your hand at the deer and they couldn't see it.

That was about 10 years ago and it hasn't done it since, I think we both realized it wasn't worth the effort. If you keep your movements slow it isn't a problem. Not I use shoot through net but cut a 2x4 in long square to shoot through and it works much better for me.

Your idea will work but probably won't be noticeable to anyone but you.

      Good luck.
