"I built a standard Diode-Capacitor Full Wave 10X Voltage Multiplier. It is powered off of Commercial A/C 120vac. 120 * 39% (Capacitor Potential Increase) = 167, 167 * 10 Stages = 1670 Vdc. It does not kill everytime, I am still working on it. I think if I increase the capacitors by 100uf it will, except in the case you mentioned, with the whiskers. I used this as an opportunity to get my teenage son engaged in a project with me and hopefully teach him a little about electricity. #1 lesson I hope he learns is respect for it!
