That stuff is cool! You ought to see some of the stuff they are doing down here at the shop. Ours are using Inconel though.

Awesome! This stuff has interested me for a while. Seriously considering investing in equipment after I get my office/hobby room finished.

I've been wanting to try an aoudad but i didn't have a complete skull, so i took a page from frankensteins playbook and used a previous scan of a kudu skull and merged it with an aoudad skull cap, a kudoudad!

I really don't think anyone would know as the software blends the two together pretty seamlessly.

Are you painting those, or does your printer do the coloring also?

Shut the front door!! Now I'm gonna have to get one and start making stuff. How well does the end product hold up? Very fragile or is it like a hard plastic once its finished? Great work man.

They just had printers and filament on sale in a Fry's flier I was emailed the other day. I was wondering what I could possibly use one for...now I know. That's cool!

I'm printing in white and then painting the horns or antlers, although some printers have dual extruders but not practical for my needs. As far as durability this depends on the filament you print in, ABS is my favorite but is has a learning curve in the beginning, PLA is easier to print but doesn't finish out as smooth, for their size they are pretty tough if you drop them off a table they will bounce and not break, but if you get really horsey with them like anything else they will break.

Another cool filament is called TPU (thermo plastic polyurethane) is really neat it is almost like formed rubber but chemical resistant, the only down side it has to print half the speed of ABS or PLA. I built some gopro mounts for my scope and bow stabilizer that ziptie to mount the plastic is soft enough to not damage the finish but tough enough to hold camera in position.
