    Potato and onion bin question

What kind of wood should I use for this? I plan on building one similar to my mother's. I'm guessing it's just good pine plywood. Maybe it is oak. I don't want to use anything that will be bad around food.

    What about a sealant?

Pine or cedar both will work and which ever fits in decor better. Stain or paint to match.
But when putting in wire mesh make sure the sharp side is out away from vegetables. I would use wire on back and bottom for potatoes and onions, to keep light away from them, don't put again wall you will need air space, air is your friend, light is not.

Thanks. On my moms, the bottom two drawers pivot out and the top spot just hinges open. The wire is at the front. I might drill some ventilation holes at the back.

Haven't started yet. Been working way too much to have a chance to get going. I will post some when I get started.

How about some of your mom's that you are modeling after?

I'm gonna have to make it big enough to hold my microwave.
