I bought a Harbor Freight, OK to learn on and then move up.
Get a good helmet that dims automatically, much easier to learn I found.

Here's a trick- instead of plugging into an outlet in a garage and tripping the 15amp breaker with the welder (plus whatever in the house is on the same branch circuit), run a heavy duty extension cord into your laundry room if it's next to the garage and plug into the 110VAC outlet there. Those are generally a dedicated circuit by code and if the dryer/washer is off, you have 20 amps available. It solved the turning out the lights in 1/2 the house problem for me.

Try Fulton metal, they are up 377 almost to Denton. Prices on metal fluctuate, so you'll get different prices almost everyone you call. FYI.

First tip: cut your material straight with good cutting equipment. Then its so much easier to weld! Good luck.

Now you can start building feeders like I've been doing for a little side money

smart man made something for the wife now you can get a better welder down the road. Just say I need it to make your next project. Table looks good. Oh also depend on your taxes you can write off stuff like welders material and other stuff.

What tools do y'all recommend purchasing for cutting? Chop saw? Plasma cutter? Band saw? I'm a rookie at this and am looking for opinions. Thanks
