    Paintin Vinyl Siding

Has any one attempted, or painted vinyl siding? I'm wanting to paint the eves and the little areas on our house that has vinyl(entry way and around the garage). We've got tan windows and tan garage doors, but the vinyl is this awful yellow color. Which really stands out now that we replaced our garage doors. I see sherwin williams makesa vinyl paint. Any body attempted this?

I would try to get the vinyl as clean as you can. I like Satin finish better than Flat for exterior paint. Always seems to weather longer and doesn't get dirty looking as fast. Sherwin Williams makes good paint.

Agree on the cleaning the vinyl. Does SW recommend any prep to the vinyl before painting?

I believe they make a primer designed for this. Self etching I think

Not exactly sure. Other than cleaning it thoroughly. They don't make a "Vinyl Siding" paint like I originally though. Any of their exterior latex paint should work according to a guy I know that works there. I'll have to double check. He says you can add some additive to it, but that's only if you're painting from a lighter color to a darker. Upon reading this, I see what he's saying: http://www.sherwin-williams.com/home...-vinyl-siding/

I'm with chootem though, I feel like there should be some sort or process to make it adhere.

You can use Sherwin Williams Superpaint, Duration or Emerald. They have Viynl Safe colors designed for vinyl siding but make sure you ask the store for it when ordering your paint. Make sure your vinyl is clean and you can paint directly over it using 2 coats with no primer needed.

I've painted it before and we cleaned it real good and wipe it with vinegar or bleach then sprayed it. Work real good.

Sherman williams has some vinyl safe paint works great just $$$ and only some locations had it in my area. I power washed with bleach to clean then 2 coats. Amazing how much better the house looks.
