    Box blind size, HELP!

I've always just hunted pup ups, climbers, and ladder stands. A few times out of box blinds on someone elses property but not a whole lot. Needing to build one for when I take the kids hunting. I found a good spot, need to build it on about 7' legs. The only thing I'm struggling with is size. It will mostly be me and one kids, maybe 2 on the odd occasion. Also trying to get the fiance to come try it out as well. So I was just going to build 4x8. I layed the wood out to start and thats a big footprint. Starting to question 4x8, thinking maybe 4x6. What say the green screen, should I just do 4x8 and deal with setting up a bigger stand.

Next question how on earth do you put a 4x8 blind up on legs. I have no access to equipment out at this place so I can not use a tractor bucket. Should I just assemble the walls and keep it all separate and put the platform up on legs then assemble the rest after that? Thanks for the input.

With that many potential people in the blind I would definitely go with 4x8. Just build it in panels and assemble onsite. Build the stand, place the floor on it and secure it, put up the 4 panel walls, add the roof. I've done this many times with just 2 people.

for gun hunting, 4x8 is good for 2-3 people, small kids, its good for 2 adults, 2 kids depending on chair size, if your bow hunting make it a 6x8.

This. Definitely panels for assembly is the best way to go. Blind elevators to attach the legs are definitely worth the money. Deer view windows are also a must have. Pm me if you have any more questions. I have built over 100 box blinds and have learned from every one.

Personally, I have found a 5x5 works great....not too far to get to window, room to stretch the legs, 2 chairs work good.

I just started a thread this morning basically looking for the same info. I am going to be building a blind this year and it needs to be big enough that the wife, kiddo and I can all sit comfortably in it, although it'll be just me by myself most of the time. I was thinking about building one that is 5'x7' with a bay window on the front for bow hunting.

I like to base the size off a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" plywood for the floor and design off of that

I would go bigger than 4' x8'. I would say a minimum of 5' in any direction. Especially if you need to draw a bow. As far as putting it on legs, elevators are excellent and without equipment you can just put the legs on in the field and tilt it up. Or you can have it fully assembled and tip it up on location. I have done this several times with no damage to the legs or blinds.

True on the 4x8 making it tight for bow hunting. Rifle ok though.

I agree 5 foot for a bow blind at a minimum. I wish plywood came in 5 foot widths. It would make it much easier.

This will be rifle only. I'm keeping my tripod setup for when I bow hunt. I think I'll just go 4x8', build the panels and floor at home and assemble on site. I'll have to get a person or two to come help put it all together.

                            6x8

All of ours are 6 x 8. This is a comfortable size for 2 people.... We have tried other sizes, 4x8 and 4x6, they worked but never as well as the 6x8.

                            Just what works for us.

                            Good luck.
