How are you going to protect it from being knocked over? Do y'all have cattle and horses to deal with or just elk? lol
Going to anchor it with a chain to a big root that is out there by it. We do have cows, and one horse, but they don't mess with the corn feeders just the protein. lol
One suggestion. Close the ends of the skids so they don't rust out.
I am, also going to paint it. I just didn't have any more time and I hadn't been feeding for almost 2 weeks because the other one was destroyed. Needed to get feed out ASAP. In the spring time I plan on finishing it up.
To fill the holes in the ends of tubing on the skids in the field i would buy a can or 2 of spray foam and tube of silicone. Clean the oil onn the tubing with some break or carb cleaner. Spray some of the foam in the tubing to fill it close to the top. Once the foam cures silicone the heck out. Will keep water out and rusting the tubing out, as well as keeping them from bulging out in a hard freeze.
Working good so far. he was there last week, tried to got his horn underneath it for leverage to flip or break off the spinner assembly and he couldn't do anything to it. He tried for the first two days then the last two days he just came out, ate, then left. He gave up for now.
Wow, are you raising them or just fattening them up? Yum....
Low fence place. They showed up several years ago I guess. My first year on the place. We have a pretty good size heard. They put a hurt on the protein feed. Never saw the bulls eating corn until maybe mid October. That big guy, he would get in on my protein feeder and clean out 100lbs a week by himself.
You better cap that square tube, or it will rust out in a hurry.
I will get it done once season is over. Ill bring my welder out there mid January, clean everything up, put something in it for a day or two to soak up any moisture. Then foam it and cap it. Get it all painted up.
