I dont think it will be an issue since the racks will pull out about two and a half feet. Just pull it out and stand to one side if something needs to go all the way to the back.

On another note, does anyone recommend any certain temp gauges.

Man, I got the firebox all welded up and most of the grate work will be done tonight if I get a chance. It's probably gonna get its first burn this weekend. Hopefully it doesn't take a rick of wood to run it for 12 hours.

It really looks good. I would be more concerned with the axle holding the weight. It can pull good but not if the axle bends if you hit a pot hole going 55mph down the HWY. If you are not going to be going up and down the road with it that much I am sure it will be fine. I estimated it to weight about 2500lb to 3000lbs. I assume it is a 3500lb axle so i would not put much wood on when traveling. Just my 2 cents. Really good build been wanting to do the same thing.

I've got a 6 lug axle laying out back that may be going under it at some point.

Might want to add a skid plate to the firebox.
