Well tried my hand at file work today, this is my 2nd attempt but 1st on a blade. I finished my bowie blade heat treated then had the bright idea to file it. YIKE'S !! I knew it would be hard on a hardened blade but Crap I wore out 3 files , would have been nice to have diamond files but nope not me have to go the hard way Lol. Anyway could be better but it's a start I guess. Plan on a Mammoth tooth handle for this one.Adam

Another hint that might help you is take a triangle file and grind one side completely smooth. That will give you a very sharp edge to start your thorns and also your vines. I don't do much file work but I have over the years, I like to experiment with various file work. I like to do it on paper first to get a feel of what files I'll need. Also I make sure the spine has blue steel dye to see how it's coming along.
