Question about fire pit

I am wanting to build a fire pit and was just wondering what you guys thought would be the thinnest medal I could get away with for the base? I was thinking I would do 3/16 but did not know if I could go smaller? Thanks for the help

A lot of people go with 10 gauge or 1/8", but I use 3/16" on all of mine just to keep it from warping and help it last longer.
