Recently my dad, brother and I bought a one acre lot on lake limestone. We're gonna build a bulkhead. I was thinking of building it out of railroad ties. What are yall thoughts On this? Btw I have about an endless supply on ties. I will get pics of lot posted shortly and start showing the build up.

the USACE will have requirements for bulkheads under nationwide 13. if you excavate below the OHWM then these rule apply, as well as if you place fill behind your bulkhead that is below the OHWM.
On a side note if the piles are hammered/ pneumatically driven then they are not considered fill and are not accounted for as an impact.
As for the railroad tie, this could be a contamination issue and you will need to check with the USACE or governing authority on lake limestone. I think maybe the Brazos River Authority?

Yah I just realized that I can't use the ties because of the creosote. Yes it is much quieter and slower paced, Conroe is full of ungrateful people who trash just about any place they can set up to party! The land is getting OVER priced and it's not what it used to be when my dad was a kid. The city has grown up so much that it's not even enjoyable anymore! Just about every joe blow who has money can buy a boat and go out there driving worse on the water than they do on the roads. The land we bought on limestone is next to family land that has been in our family since 1980, in a quite cove and amazing catfishing and white bass fishing! I'm on the market for a boat now so that I can find all of the honey holes for the black bass. I grew up there so it will be nice to have my kids play in the same water and land I used to.

Yes we're also on the west side of the lake. But more north than where your located at. Yah I remember a few years back the water was so low that you had to walk to it and it nothing but grass fields for as far as you could see. If that happens again this year which I doubt it with all of the rain then we would be in a perfect spot to build bulkhead.
