It needs to go into a heated water/Dawn bath now.
You can still get that skull perfectly white. It'll just take time.

Can I do it without heat? Its been in down water for about a month. Will it just take longer? or not work at all?

You really need the heat, to break up the oil and grease.
I never got good results without heating the water.

          Day 26.
No more floating grease but the water is still getting real dirty.

For comparison, the complete aoudad skull on the left was cleaned by maceration. The partial skull on the right is the one that was boiled. They were both put in the degreasing tank at the same time.

If I let the one on the left dry, most people would be happy with the whiteness.

It's easy to see how much grease is still left in the boiled skull.

And it looks like someone couldn't get the skull cleaned so they covered it up.

Please refer to post 12 and 13 on this thread.

                            This is day 38ish.
No more floating grease and the water is starting to stay a little cleaner.

                            I'll change the water again.

Boiling a skull in after it is cleaned in cascade liquid soap for about 30 min works good too. After that boil it in jet dry for bout 15 min.

Where do you get the heater from? I tried an aquarium heater, but it only got the water up to 72 degrees.

                                Thanks in advance.
