First thing I'd do is get some graph paper and draw it to scale with a variety of angles on the legs. I think you can tell pretty easily when it is too wide or too close by your Mark 1 Eyeball.
Simplest way to do it is figure out where the top of your leg "sleeve" is going to mount to the feeder. Then measure 12" down the barrel, from that mark 12" down the barrel set your square with the pivot on that mark and measure 6" out to the leg "sleeve". You'r basically measuring a 6 on 12 pitch.....which is 22.5 degrees.

Gotcha...thanks!....we have aoudad that hit the protein feeders so I want to add a 4th leg. Thinkn of using fence post with concrete inside to sturdy it up.
