Rustic headboard made from leftover fence pickets

My son wanted to make a headboard for his bed. We used cedar pickets leftover from a recent fence rebuild. First we attached a couple 2x4's to a piece of plywood so we would have a way to bolt it to the bed frame . We then cut the pickets into random sized pieces and he attached them patchwork style with wood glue and a brad nailer.

After some stain and a coat of poly. I had all the materials already so total cost was zero.
