looks almost exactly like one i built....I would wrap something around the pump to act like a filter or those little holes you drilled will get plugged up.
Especially when it comes to live shrimp - their antennae will definitely mess up a bilge pump quick, but looks like you're going with freshwater bait.
If you plan on using it for live bait such as shad, I would highly recommend to use some plastic to round off the corners or else the shad will swim into the corners and kill themselves.
If youre using it just for catfish and crappie and other game fish, it'll work great! good build, I used to have one just like it haha.
In the summer you will have to put ice in the water as the pump will heat up the water.

I rigged one the same way, then I built another one with hose connections through the cooler ( left over Igloo cooler drains ) so I could also lower the pump into the bay water & have the other hose drain the overflow, water stays fresh, no clogs from shrimp parts, no heat from pump motor. Easy to fill
