    DIY dog training bumper

Not really complicated, but I got tired of $12 plastic bumpers breaking or Sage chewing through them. I took a piece of a tree branch, drilled a hole through at 45 degrees a knotted both ends.

It's durable and heavy enough now to get 40-50 yard throws. I rub a mallard wing on it before training to give it a little scent too. Not being a bright color, she has to work a little harder if I get it into brush or leaves.

Nice but I would be more worried a out the dog chewing up the bumper then the cost.

She'll chew on rocks if I'd let her, but bumper training with whistle and commands no. She never had a bumper as a play toy, and she only gets to carry it home from the creek if she's done well as a reward. But I see your point,

I'm more worried about it hitting somebody in the head coming down- it would give a major clunk weighing a couple pounds.
