    93 jeep xj build

Sold my Suzuki mini hunting truck with intentions of finding something with a little more space for me and the wife and the girls in a few years. After a few days of searching and debating I settled on a 93 jeep cherokee with 230,000 miles with a rebuilt motor and tranny. Lady was asking $2500 but when I test drove it, it was obvious the brakes were shot and it was grinding from front hubs severely. I told the lady I would pass and she said how about $1000 as is. SOLD!! Here she is the day I brought it home.

Before I moved into all the hunting goodies I wanted to be sure it was mechanically sound so me and a few employees went to town and re did the brakes, bearings, axles seals and all new fluids and filters. Also did new plugs and wires. At this point it ran like a new truck so I decided to get the parts coming. The nice part was is I don't need to buy or install a lift. It already had a recently installed rustys 3" lift.

That's going to be a nice family hunting rig. What all do you have planed for it?

First additions was larger and more aggressive tires and cutting and rolling the fenders.

Next it was on to the exterior color. Black just didn't seem right sitting hiding behind a cedar tree and first run at the ranch and it was obvious by the scratches one weekend caused I needed a tougher exterior paint. After a few hours on the interwebs I came across a product called monstaliner and I'm glad I did. I decided on ww11 of Green and bought there spray gun along with the kit. Spraying seemed a lot easier than rolling so I opted that route. Prep work took about 6 hours and spray time was 3- 15 min spray sessions an hour apart from each other. After 3 light coats it looked great.

Some of the prep work. We kinda over did it because all u really need to do is sand the clear off. Had to primer over all the bare metal spots where we sanded to deep.

Very nice. I also have a 93 XJ. Mine has 223,000. Its runs solid. Good luck with the build. I think you will love it.

Once the bumpers arrive I plan on putting a road feeder up front and a raised rack on rear reciever to carry game and feed on.

Its a 3.5 inch rough country with 2 in spacers and 2 inch Shackles. 5.5 total with 285x75x16's. It also has cut fenders. I can easily fit 35's but they rubbed when offroading. So I will stay with the 285's. We go to Katemcy and rock krawl several times a year. Its a good time.
