I was able to get the gate hung today, & get the Apollo opener installed. I still have to set up the solar panel, & all the transmitters/receivers.

There was a big hole in my box from shipping, & upon unpacking I realized the piece that connect the ram to the gate was missing, so I had to fab up my own. Fortunately I also have an assortment of bolts, as the 1/2" dia bolts where missing too!! Oh well......

welding hinges...

Hey there, just saw your post and was curious how you attached the power hinges to your tube gate. Those hinges are massive and I'm worried about getting penetration Into the hinge body. What process did you use? I have 200 amp mig and 200 amp tig machine at my disposal....leaning towards tigging. Do you mind offering up some advise? Multiple passes and build up?

The gates that I build are made from 14ga sq tubing, so they are pretty light. If I had one of those suitcase migs, I would have mig'd it. On this job though, I used 7018.

BUT.....It really depends on what kind of gate you have.
