I can't see the Christmas light pictures but I will second this project. Our oldest had to reuse / recycle an item for a project last year and made light strings. He ended up selling 3 sets for $15 each at the Jr High.
For those looking for spent shells, get with your local clay shooting club or the 4H and find out when they are shooting, make a trip over and pick up all the hulls you want. My boys shoot on Tuesday nights and the group picks up all the shells at the end of the evening and just dumps them in the trash. I'd say 200-500 shells every week, depending on how many kids show up to practice.
