New "floating" deck

We spent last week putting up a whole new fence at our "new" house. That was a chore with just me and the wife! Now we're building a new floating deck. My wife is full of all kinds of great ideas of things to do to keep me busy when I'm not at work.

It's just me and my wife so some of the steps are slow going. Plus I've built a few decks but never using these concrete bases. So I was kinda learning as I went on those... It took us two days to get the foundation/ground leveled and ready.

And today we finally got some decking on. Should fly by now.

We plan to plant monkey grass, or something short, all the way around it so the deck will appear to be sitting on top of the grass/plants. And laying a stone area to the left side for the grill and a sort if walkway to the deck.

Picked up the stone and sand last night. Hope to get the rest of the decking and at least part of the stone work done his evening.
I call them "stones" but I'm actually using square step type stones to make the area for the grill/walkway.

Just think how satisfying it will be to enjoy after all the hard work. Looking good so far don't forget the completed pics

Got the deck done today! Storm coming in fast out of the west so we cleaned up and will get on the stone work tomorrow. Thanks for lookin!

I'm going to get back on the decks "patio" this afternoon when it cools down a little. In the mean time I repaired our back door/trim that apparently the previous owners dog loved to chew on...
