I apologize in advance for not knowing the "correct plumber terminology"....I have a leak coming from my shower. It is a single control on/off knob with a second control behind it for temperature adjustment. When I remove the items in the first pic, I am left with what is in the second pic. Do I need to pull the white part out (I am guessing called the handle cartridge per lowes website) or do I remove the shower valve nut first to get to the cartridge? Thanks for your help.

Yes you might need a puller; looks like a Moen. I believe there is another nut in from of the cartridge you can unscrew, you can get a good hold with vise grips and it should pull out. I'm not a plumber but I'm a retired a general commercial general contractor for years and we did use moen fixtures most of the time.Last edited by Bjankowski; 03-18-2013, 09:10 PM.
