Griddle Question

I am wanting to make a 2 burner griddle. Will mild steel work or does it have to be tempered? What can I do to make mild steel work?

do you mean like the old cast iron ones for gas grills. ??
If you use mild steel, do you just season it to prevent rust ?

I could buy one but we have enough metal here at work to make 2. That's my thinking, season it well to prevent rust, but not sure if it will warp/crack. I'm not a connoisseur of metals.

I was thinking about making one out of 1/4 mild steel to fit my three burner propane BBQ pit. I have the suff at the house.

Yes steel will work, that is what that pic is made of. Same as a disc cooker. Just be sure to keep it clean and a light coat of cooking oil on it when not in use.

Not yet. I lost my job a few months back so alot of my ideas are still just that. It will be ready before Bownanza.
