My first knife build

I have worked steel all my life and just never got around to making a knife ,well this week I made 2 ,






just need to oil the wood finish polishing and finish sharpening them.
Was a blast might have to make a few more

Got the knives finished up ,handles done and they both are sharp enough to shave.

What are the blades made out of?

Is that a hole in the blade on the smaller knife? Great work, doesn't it feel great to look at what you made? The better part is thinking that some day in the future, some young man will hold it and say to his hunting partner, "Isn't this knife a beauty? My Great Grandfther made it".

These blades are 440c
The hole in the blade is an ideal I am working on for a one sided holder for the knife.
so it will just snap in and out from just about any angle.
