    Pipe Question!!

Hey guys, What is the best way to get a straight line around a large pipe, Like 30" or bigger? I know there has to be a few tips and tricks out there. I appreciate it in advance fellas!

I have used freezer paper to wrap around to get a straight line. Over lap the ends to make sure you get a straight line.

Guess I may pick one of those little boogers up. All the welding supply places should have the big ones right?

Measure from the end of the pipe say ...... Six inches. Put a mark. Roll the pipe, do it again and again till you got a mark all the way around. Then connect the dots.

You can't always do that if the end you're measuring from wasn't cut square.

Lol yep. A beveling machine that will cut 30 inch won't set you back...........to much! Oh and don't forget the barrel torch. Those are real cheap too!

Yeah I cut the ends off of a propane tank and measuring from those welds ain't straight. Might as well grab a wrap so I can cut the rest up too.

butcher paper. wax paper. over lap it about 6 inches. if its flat and no wrinkles. then you will see a clean line.

Tubby told me to cut it down one side, unroll the pipe and flatten out the metal, then draw a "flat line" on it.

                              Hi Clint .
