    Sheath

    Hey guys,

I posted this on the taxidermy.net forum and no one bothered to reply. But no problem, 'cause I know my friends on TBH won't let me down. Here it is:

I'm trying to make a sheath for a knife out of a catalina horn and was wondering what y'all suggest for cleaning and polishing it up. Thanks for the help.

You could probably buff it up with a jewelry buffer and rouge. If you know anyone that repairs jewelry or makes knives they could probably do it for you. The key is to have relatively slow RPMs below 5,000. Faster and you could heat it up and burn a blemish in it.

    I hope this helps.

I've used 000 and 0000 steel wool for polishing horn before. I first scraped off some of the rough material with a knife first then used the steel wool.

        ?

The buffing doesn't give the horn a rouge tint?

The steel wool doesn't scratch the horn?
