    Popcorn ceilings and wood.

Scraping my popcorn ceilings down and retexturing it. I cant stand the look of a popcorn ceiling, then im off to pull the flooring up and lay down some wood floors. Talk about a lot of work. My kitchen and living room is 18x45 i have about half of it scraped and im already whooped.

Do you have a pump sprayer? If so a gallon of water goes a long way! I did my MIL house & my brother's house, shoulder & neck will kill you.

Have fun & get ready for a BIG mess!

We are buying a house and doing the same thing, scraping and hardwood.

Really looking forward to seeing this.

My wife wants to do this in our house, starting in our living room with vaulted ceilings, plus she wants the wood paneling gone or painted over. She wants to replace the linoleum too but not sure what she wants to replace it with. And u am not a handy man. The demolition I can do, it's the reconstruction I am no good at.

I have most of it scraped, having to take a break my neck, shoulders and arms are tired. A mess is an understayement. I do have a sprayer but it comes of down to the sheetrock and it is anothet step to do. It did cut down on the dust some but not that much. I'm going to spray the new texture with a hooper and i'm hoping that the little bit that is left on there will blend underneath much like a basecoat. My flooring just got here and i'm getting 50 boxes put in the garage. Busy day.

Well the flooring delivery was a cluster you know what. The pallet jack wouldnt fit where the pallet was supposed to be lifted from. Got off of the truck nut then i had to move 50 boxes into the garage by hand. What a pain.
Gotta love the remodeling. Hunting season cant get here fast enough.

Welcome to my nightmare/occupation. It's always something. And yes, if your spraying anything heavier than a light orange peel texture then the little bit of popcorn that you are not getting off will cover up. And if your arms are tired now just wait until your holding that hopper gun full of mud above your head all day! It's all work but worth it in the end.

                  Homegrown,
I did this for about 2-3 years right out of high school but it was all new construction. Rehab is a difgereny beast.

Well i got everything sraped down and got most of my base boards off, got the carpet in the living room up plus all of my carpet transition pieces as well as all of the carpet strips which both had concrete nails every 6-8". Then i got to do the fun part which was cleaning up all the dust. I just got through showering and its a wonder my drain didnt stop up from all the dust. Oh and i had to clean my shop vac filter 3 times. That stuff was like baby powder. Anyway i'm whopped and i dont even want to think about how sore i'm going to be tomorrow.Click image for larger version

Replaced my front door as well since i was tearing stuff up today. It gave me fits trying to get it in there square and doing it by myself.

Tapatalk is giving me fits. Looking at the ceiling I think I could actually get away with not spraying any texture if I wanted to, it looks like a very light orange peel. Anyway I still have the kitchen floor to get up and down in the hallway I have some more carpet to remove as well. I figured I would go ahead and move most of the furniture back in the living room for during the week so I can still watch that new 60". I have a feeling there will be very little watching tonight as I will probably knock off a little early.

Well took off early and got started in the kithen. I have vinyl floor with vinyl tiles on top of that and it isnt coming up easy like i was hoping. Having to use the Makita rotary hammer on a lot of it. Ughh!

I used a sparayer and floor scrapers. Got about 1500 sqst scraped in about 2. hours. If gets to the dry wall just Killz it. You're gong to retexture anyway.
