    Ours at the lease are very similar. We used sch40 (sch 20 and sewar pipe breaks pretty easy) PVC 4" pipe attached to a toilet flange which is screwed into the bottom of a plastic barrel. The only thing we did different that yours is that on the end caps, we glued the whole cap on, then cut the end off square, leaving about the same amount of lip at the bottom as you did. I figure that way, it won't get pried off because the cap has the full ring glued to the pipe, just has the end of the cap cut off.

      How high off the ground is the feed tube, Making one myself and don't want it too high or low.

        36" works best I've found. Go to a hardware store with drainage pipe supplies. I have found drainage pipe connectors that reduce 6" pipe to 4". I put that at the end of the PVC pipe opening which allows for extra rain protection as well as enough room for deer to stick their head in further. I also try to drill holes in the bottom to allow drainage if water gets in.
