That's an awesome deal! I paid $700 for mine and still need to add the black seat covers. I'm gonna take the front seat out and put in boat seats as well as mount two boat seats on the back. Found me a new brush guard on CL for $50 and need to install. It's a 91 Marathon. I think I paid $650 including shipping for the 4 inch Jakes lift, wheels and tires.Click image for larger version

Also, have me a new plastic front cowl I need to put on. Good luck, it's fun making it your own!

OK, I figured out that the part I was working on was the resistor coil. My next question is, what is that material on the top? I thought about trying some heat and oil to break the bolt loose, but I dont want ot burn anything important, or worse, burn the whole thing down.

I had to spray liquid wrench on nearly all the bolts on mine before breaking them loose. Spray em down and let it sit for about 30mins - 1 hr.

I believe those resistor coils have a flat ground on the stud to keep them from moving with the nuts. You don't want the stud to move much or it'll break.

Great job on the lift! I've got a buddy that used hockey pucks to lift his ezgo.

Just placed an order for a new resistor coil. Should be here friday. Gonna work on getting the rear lifted in the mean time.

Got the rear lifted and put a charge on it. It works good, except that I only have 4 of the 3 resistor leads hooked up because the #3 terminal is rusted solid and the wire is broken loose. That gives me 3 of the 4 speeds.

However, I charged it for 5 hours Monday afternoon and drove it around for maybe an hour before it started to really struggle. So I parked it and charged it over night. The Ammeter read about 18 amps all afternoon on the first charge, and then stared at 18 and crept back down to 15 over night. It charged for a full 12 hours and still showed 15 amps the next day. I havent run it since because I havent had time, so I dont know how long the charge will last, but I have a suspicion that there is a problem with my batteries.

im gonna replace the resitor when I get back from San Angelo and see if that helps anything. If that doesnt help, where is a good place to get good batteries (I dont need top of the line, but dont want junk) at a reasonable price (remember, Im on a teachers salary)?

The ammeter should read 0 at full charge, and surely it doesnt take more than 12 hours to charge it back up. Or does it? They were super dead and sitting there for over 2 years without a charge.

Got the new resistor in, and it works great. Drove it around a good while, but it sure did act weak. I think I either need some new batteries, or a combination of batteries and a high torque motor. Hopefully I can replace the batteries and it will help because I dont have 2K to drop on batteries and a motor.

Anyone know if you can hook up 3 12v deep cycle batteries rather than 6 6v batteries.

Looks like the 12v are cheaper.

You can do that, but the reserve capacity is much lower than the 6 volts. If you really want to juice it up, put 6 - 8 volt batteries in it. A lot of people do this with the older 36 volt buggies and like the results.

Do you have to change any of the electronics out for that, mainly motor or charger?

Well, Im still researching the power system on the cart, but now that I know it runs, I started tearing it down do evaluate the frame. I got it all torn down as much as I could and over all, its in solid condition. There is only one spot of rust on the body, and as far as the frame, the only rusted part is the battery trays. Both should be an easy fix. I think my father-in-law has a sand blaster that I can use to clean the frame up and really see what Im working with. Thats my first step thus far. Let you guys know what I figure out.

Just thought Ide update since its been a while.

Got her all put back together, but Im not happy with the solid black color scheme. Im thinking I need a 2-tone color scheme. Im wanting either a tan body, with either a brown, black, or green trim OR a green body with tan trim. All paint used will be Rustoleum Ultraflat Camo spray paint to keep glare down.

Here she is now, but what say you on the color?

Im also thinking of painting the wheels black and getting a color matched 2-tone seat cover. That part of the reason Im hung up on the colr. I need to make a decision so I dont waste $100 on a cover and decide I dont like the color.
