Back in January a bunch of family came down from out of state. We enjoyed a fire in the back yard one evening while they were here and since then my wife and I have wanted to do something more permanent in that same spot, but without breaking the bank. Today we finally got started by first spreading two yards of crushed granite, between rain showers.

While my wife was spreading granite I welded three 20' sections of 4x1/8" flat bar together.

A couple neighborhood kids came along at just the right time to help us drag the ring over to the granite pad.

She painted the flat bar right before we ran out of light. Tomorrow, we will spread and compact a little more granite then hopefully get started on a rock or brick pit to go in the center of the circle.

Check back in a day or two for an update.
