Got tired of ducks nest around the cabin and not near the pond. A cedar 1X10X12 is about $60+ and 1 is required per box. Kind of steep for a retired guy on a budget. Dang deer are eating everything. Anyway, I decided to use 6’ cedar pickets. This reduced cost by 75%. I had to dowel and glue some boards. 10 pickets does 3 boxes. That was no big deal. Cut pieces to length and assembled. I brushed joints with silicone sealer on the outside only. I need the wind to lay down to get them hung on the trees in the pond. I had some screen material I stapled on the inside for climbing. Quick easy and budget friendly.

Well done! I would recommend against mounting them on a tree. Get you a post and mount them out in the water some if you can. If you hang them on a tree then they are susceptible to snakes. When we put them out in East TX we would hang them on 2" galvanized pipe with a cone guard to keep the critters out.
