I thought some of you guys might enjoy seeing the minor upgrades I’m adding. This whole process is really an evaluation of what I want, what I want to pay for, and where I land in the middle. I wanted a 4044M, but certainly didn’t want to spend the money. I also don’t really need a 4000 frame size. I just need to do some dirt work and cleanup around the house. Plus I’ll mow and clear shooting lanes at the deer lease. Tipping point for this purchase was that the tractor is already set up with a grapple which will be awesome for deer lease cleanup and the few trees I need to cut at home. I looked at Kubota as well. I had one before and they are great machines. Hydrostatic transmission was a must for me and I have ti say I prefer the dual pedal JD setup.

Sales guy told me the 3 point lever was “stiff”. I did a google search and it seemed to be a normal issue on this model. Stiff was an understatement, but it worked and I was there 1.5 hours from home so I bought it. Got up the next day, made an adjustment, and the handle snapped off when I gave it a test. Selling dealer gave me the parts at no charge, and I was capable of the fix without issue. Would have been costly at the dealer ($1500+ per google).

She’s all fixed now. Really wasn’t bad and the system works like brand new so a worthwhile effort. I wanted a better grill guard particularly for when I use the grapple. I wanted a 511 designs guard, but $400 for a small piece of laser cut steel wasn’t happening. $25 for some 16 gauge at tractor supply, 190 drilled holes, and some scrap expanded metal got the job done. I can’t get photos to be in the order I want, but they’re here at least.

Installed a Heavy Hitch toothbar and put almost an hour on her. Toothbar was a worthwhile marketplace purchase. I’m preferring the JD twin petals to the kubota setup. I’m happy so far.

I need to get the teeth for the big tractor bucket and youpon. I also wanted a 511 grill for my 1025 and decided to order punch plate and build it. Its saved the radiator more than once

Anyone who has used a compact tractor knows they have more power than ability to use it. I needed a ballast box but $200-300 for an off brand and $600+ from John Deere wasn’t going to work. Used a bunch of scrap and welded one up. Ugly, but should work. I added pipes for carrying rakes, shovels and my pole saw. Square tubing should hold a chain. I figure I’ve got 225-250lb of steel and added 400lb of concrete. I’m into it about $50 for pins and concrete. just needs a quick coat of black paint. Don’t be too critical the welds should hold, but they ain’t getting me a welding job.

I have to say, a quick hitch and a hydraulic top link is the handiest thing since canned beer. Insanely nice to have item. I ordered the top link on amazon, because I had a second valve already that was present when the prior owner had the grapple set up. Honestly, I likely would have never spent the money on the extra valve, grapple, etc but I'll never be without it if I have the option. Hooked up my box blade without ever leaving the tractor seat. Planning to actually put her to work this weekend spreading some dirt in the front yard.

I like the weight idea. I routinely put my 1025 on 2 and 3 wheels with the grapple

Added a toolbox/ chainsaw carrier made out of scrap. Saw sits on the ammo can. Cutting board scabbard just keeps it in place. D ring for a hammer or axe.
