    1958 Willys

My family has sold off the family homestead so I went and picked up the last piece I could take with me.
    1958 Willys
Kinda on the fence whether I wanna dump the money into it or sell it off and start anew

You'll regret selling it. Such a rare classic.

Another one in agreement with Walker. Would make a helluva DIY thread on here.

I learned to drive in a 40 something year model. Dad spent years chasing gremlins and is finally doing a total overhaul. Cant wait to see how it turns out!

            Keep it!

we have a 48 my G-Paw bought right after WWII, came with an extra motor and all stamped with US markings. My dad traded the extra motor for work on our airboat and regretted it. Especially when a trade went bad and the original motor ended up in another Jeep leaving us with a rolling chassis.

There are 4 of these (or ones just like it) parked in the covered storage spot directly behind my RV at Ten Oaks Storage in Helotes. šŸ˜‰
They have been sitting there trying not to rot away for at least 10 years, that I know of, maybe more. Mostly complete with spare parts. Supposedly an old guy in his 70s swears to the storage owner that he is going to fix them up. He's in Arkansas. Jeeps are in San Antonio. Not likely.

I say all that so that you can see that these do have value...to some at least. What exactly that value is, I don't know. I'm a fan of bringing old cars back from the dead, so I say fix it and keep it!

(I also gave you the name of the storage facility so that you could possibly contact them so they have your information for when that old guy passes and the Jeeps are still left in the storage space. Lord knows they'll never leave TX by his hands...you gotta know where all the good parts are at!)

Talk to Marc. He’s a car guy and usually there in the office.

My dad has one very similar that I kept in my garage to tinker with and drive around the neighborhood. While it was fun and easy to work on I would’ve definitely been money ahead just buying a newer jeep

That would be a cool one to just get mechanically sound with some new wheels and tires and just leave the body like it is. Maybe some kind of patina protector. I would think that if you started replacing sheet metal the cost would quickly exceed the value.

My 2 year old keeps saying it is ā€œher jeepā€ so I guess we will start the rebuild and see where it leads. Step 1 was replacing the tubes in the tires to get her off the trailer. Step 2 was ordering the transmission rebuild kit as it is locked up. Waiting on parts…

I’m keeping it patina. It’s rusted through in the bed but everything is surprisingly very solid. Going to cut out the cancer and weld in a sheet in the bed.

You would be surprised though. I’m in it for the cost of the title transfer so there is that. I’ve priced a frame off resto and based on current prices I miraculously would not be upside down and that includes all new body/paint.

On the other hand. I’m in it for the cost of a title transfer and keeping this rusty POS in the same cosmetic shape is kind of my style. Only goal is street legal so I can pick my little girl up from school in ā€œher jeepā€
