Hi Folks,
I am Jason a Hunter from Sydney Australia and want to thankyou for accepting meto this board. I have been to Texas 4 times and love it there its almost like my second home. I have friends in Dallas and Waco and I hunted Doves in Waco in 2010 and loved it.
Well I had some spare time over the last weekend and decided that I had been wanting to start pigeon taking pigeon hunting more seriously. Feral pigeon have no season and no limit which is a win for all hunters. I am gathering up some land as we speak to try out this new experience. I hunted doves in Waco Texas a few years back with a Mojo Dove on opening day and its a really great type of hunting as the birds decoy with the color flipping of the wings. Its almost like Duck hunting but pigeons instead but you can still decoy them without a drama.
I purchased 2 Mojo Doves(motorized) from Cabelas and 4 clip on decoys. I then decided that I would make my own Mojo Dove Tree because sometimes this time of year the grass or wheat/corn/maize or whatever is growing can be a little high. You need to get the birds up off the ground so they can be seen.
My mojo tree is finished and was completed with 1" PVC plumbing pipe with T connectors and the branches are half in to clip the clips on decoys on when y get them.
I only have 1 mojo Dove at the moment but I am waiting on the other Mojo dove and 4 clips on to arrive.
The best places to hunt pigeons are over agricultural crops or even a cattle farm is good because the pigeons love eating all the feed and love crapping the farmers equipment.
Anyone who doubt the Mojo can watch this video. They work check out the below video.
Here is the Pigeon Tree I made to get them up off the ground to a more visible point.
