Anyone got any safe direction to make a potato launcher? Shot one yesterday and it had been ten years since I shot one and want build one for myself that way it wouldn't be another ten years.

I have a good plan at home I will look up tonight. As far as being illegal, only if they are used for something other than launching potatoes. I checked with my ATF friends before I built mine.
My dad used to host potato gun contests and they built some pretty wicked looking ones, including one on bicycle wheels to look like a Civil War cannon and one that looked like it came off a Naval Gunship. They could launch them a good distance, but being an engineer with engineer friends, they had to ban the one that launched a potato over a half mile.

(16) "Zip gun" means a device or combination of devices that was not originally a firearm and is adapted to expel a projectile through a smooth-bore or rifled-bore barrel by using the energy generated by an explosion or burning substance.
