    Tanning a Snake Skin

Is there a DIY way to tan a snake skin at home where it stays pliable? I have always heard about using glycerin but have been reading that the hide will eventually get stiff, brittle and crumbly. I am wanting to have a rifle sling made.

%50 Glycerin, %50 evergreen alcohol. Couple ways to use it. I've got skins from 20 years ago that are still pliable.
