In February I built a small 8’ X 8’ front porch knowing that it would end up getting moved to the back door. It has an upright at all 4 corners, and another upright in the very center making it nice and solid. I did not cement the posts because I knew it would get moved.
So today was moving day for the porch since we have $2,500 worth of lumber being delivered this week for a new and much larger front porch. So how do you move a porch if you don’t have a tractor or a fork lift?
You go to Harbor Freight and buy four 8” casters, use some spare wood screwed to the uprights, and then screw the casters to the spare wood. Attach a couple of D rings, and use a small piece of chain attached to your lawn mower, then move the porch. It moved a LOT easier than what I was expecting.
Now to put a coat of stain on it, move it into place, get it leveled, and attach some steps. I’ll come back later and add railing.
