Sounds like you have lots of good input. Not sure how permanent your camp is but a large covered lounging area is a good investment.
My two cents is build sturdy shade / rain roof over your fire pit area and use that runoff for your water needs. Duel purpose structure. The rain-catcher system on my shop has a
clean-out pipe and filter designed to keep trash out of my plastic water tank.
