    Antique Ice Box Refurbish

I inherited an antique ice box from my Great, Great Grandfather. My Grandfathers aunts lived in the house and had to be put in a nursing home. They painted it black and it has been sitting in my garage for close to a year or more. I was going to sell it but decided I would work on it to try my hand at refurbishing it. So far so good. Pics to follow.

I bought some stripping material from home depot. I washed the interior tin and will do the same for the tin I removed. Have not decided if I want to line the tin with something or leave it original. If I do line it with a quiet material I will have it so I can easily remove. I did a bit more tonight but no good light for pictures. More to come

I love stuff like that. You are doing a good thing. Remembering family history is always a good thing. Keep the pix a flowing.

Looks great, good friends of my parents have one of these. Every time I go over to thier house I ask about buying it. They just pile junk on top of it and its kept out in the garage. Hopefully one day I'll be able to get it from them and restore it too.

We had an old cooler thing like that at one time but not sure what ever happened to it. Our was metal though and was by the brand name "Coolerater". Had the storage area up top for ice blocks and food storeage below. Even had the original old glass bottom-less cup that sat in the drain hole area that I am guessing would have had some type of hose attached to it to drain off outside. Wish I still had it....
