            Just put those Christmas lights to use. Lower electric consumption, soft light, cover greater area and you could put a ton of them in just one of the buckets.

            My favorite is a Coleman lantern with white gas. I also prefer sites without electricity.

              I've built several of these myself. Mine are a little different though. I just get the porcelain ceiling fixtures and attach them to the bottom inside the bucket. Any time I can find a vacuum cleaner that someone is throwing away, I steal the cord off of it. They are about 15' long and roll up nicely inside the bucket. I kinda like your spin them also!

                We have some of those at our camp in Arkansas. They put out enough light to keep from stumbling over things, without being overpowering.

                  redneck campin at its best. i like the idea. maybe i can make some w motion senors on them. put them all over the yard so i can find my way to the door at night.

                    They worked well!

                    They illuminted the whole camp site and did not get hot.

                    Bucket made for a good extension cord storage container, also.

                                You can get those little lite brite things and write your name in the side of the bucket, or just put TBH.com on there.
